Climate Testimonies

Katie Todd

Katie Todd is a senior student of Environmental Science and English at Messiah College in Pennsylvania, though she is originally from Connecticut.

Katie was called to fight against global climate change by a passion for insects.

There is a biblical precedent for concern about global climate change. Katie states simply, "If I'm truly to care about my neighbor in other worlds, then I have to care about how climate change might impact their ability to live."

In an effort to live a 'greener' lifestyle, Katie and several other young adults live together in communal housing and attempt to live a sustainable life. "We, as a group, try to navigate what it means to care for creation in our lifestyle, together. Part of that means eating food that is grown sustainably. Part of that means going to D.C. and participating in rallies and protests because we care about how the politics of our nation impact the world around us..."

"It's very easy to look at the issues in front of us and be overwhelmed and to say, 'There's nothing I can do. There's nothing anyone can do.' And really, you're right. There isn't anything you or anyone can do; God has to be present in this issue. . . God can take care of it now, through you.
