Dr. Dorothy Boorse joined the Gordon College Faculty in January, 1999. She has a master’s degree in entomology (Cornell University) and a Ph.D. in Oceanography and Limnology (University of Wisconsin-Madison). Her primary research and teaching interests are in aquatic community ecology, invasive species, and vernal pools.

Dr. Boorse spends a great deal of time connecting science to non-scientists and looking at ways science and faith integrate, particularly in the area of environmental ethics. She is the advisor for the student group, Advocates for A Sustainable Future, is on the board of AuSable Institute. She is also an author of a college level environmental science textbook and was the lead author of a report on poverty and climate change, Loving the Least of These: Addressing a Changing Environment (2011, National Association of Evangelicals). She has a strong interest in mentoring women in science as well as increasing women and minorities in science.
