Dugan Julian is a full-time student at Grace College and Theological Seminary (IN) currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Environmental Science.

As a non-traditional student, Dugan balances family (his wife and two children), school, and church (he is the leader of a 7th and 8th grade Sunday school class.) Dugan was born in Warsaw, Indiana and lived 18 years of his life in the small town of Silver Lake, Indiana. Three days after graduating, Dugan traveled to San Diego, California to attend basic training as a United States Marine. For the next seven years, Dugan made his way to North Carolina, California, Washington D.C., Iraq, and Ohio, finally returning to Warsaw in 2012. During his service, particularly his time in Iraq, Dugan began to develop a growing concern for the environment and our responsibility concerning it. He has since been an active member of two environmental stewardship groups and an independent advocate for sustainable living and environmental stewardship.

What are you looking forward to as a YECA Fellow?

I have been passionate about sustainable living for nearly a decade. I feel that God's first job for mankind was to responsibly manage the earth and its natural resources; to live in harmony with the rest of God's Creation. Every day, I see more need for a shift not only in society but with the Faith as well, to seek after and embrace a more sustainable and Biblical lifestyle. I feel that this internship could help me to make a real impact, instead of just being a "facebook preacher."
